Teachers - Music Education
Welcome back dinos!
My name is Mrs. Wood. Though I was born in Peterborough, Ontario, I have spent most of my life here in the 'Mac! This spring, I completed my Bachelor of Education here in Fort McMurray through the University of Alberta. This is my first year teaching at Dr. Clark, and having graduated Grade 8 as a dino (2011), I am super jazzed to be back in this vibrant community! I've been married for 2 years and am passionate about music, art, writing, reading, and learning new things. As a brand new teacher, I am excited to grow and learn with all of your children!
My vision for music class is that students will all come in with the knowledge that they can all play a valuable part in their community. Every individual can contribute! Along with the fact that music education has been proven to improve cognitive function, learning to play and create music is a very valuable tool in improving mental health and well being. Throughout my own life, music has always been a valuable treasure. My hope for the 2021-2022 school year is that students will continue to develop a fresh perspective and their own passion for music as we learn, play, and create together!
