Small Electrical Fire at Dr. Clark Extinguished - No Injuries

(Fort McMurray, AB - March 16, 2021) At about 3:00 p.m., this afternoon a small electrical fire caused by a power source broke out at Dr.Clark Public School while conducting our regular fire alarm maintenance program. It was immediately extinguished, there were no injuries; however, smoke was still visible for a short time.

All students and staff were evacuated and the Fort McMurray Fire Department responded immediately to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and facility. As a result of these quick actions, all members of our school community are safe and there is no damage to the building.

“At no time were students in any danger, and I am very proud of the way that our students and staff handled themselves during this incident,” said Mark Dolmont, Principal, Dr. Clark.

“Additionally, we understand that the thought of fire may raise specific concerns for students, staff, or families. We have our counselling staff responding to the school to offer support.

If you feel you require additional support or assistance for your child regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to reach out. You may also find additional resources on our Division Mental Health website,” Principal Dolmont added.
